Fire Department Responded

This is a late note to advise all that the Fire Department did respond to my certified letter requesting more detail. Deputy Chief Gil Dong phoned me and then sent a full package of background information on the recent fire history, his motivations in pushing this system, and the legal basis (in the Berkeley Municipal Code) for requiring us to install another level of fire protection. 

The response was fairly prompt, and it included notification to Berkeley City Councilman Kris Worthington, who was kind enough to offer to help resolve the issue.

Bob Archibald and our Fire Alarm committee are reviewing the info. At this point it looks like we have only the thinest of legal reasons to resist installation of the alarm.
