Actives Lead Fundraising "Surge"

The active members of Delta Deuteron are VERY interested in getting the Cave Party back on. Since the fire department has required all frat houses to upgrade fire systems, and the fire department must approve all registered parties, and major parties must be registered through the Fraternity Council, and the Berkeley Police seem to close down non registered parties, the actives want the fire alarm installed.

The problem is the Delta Deuteron Building Association does not have an extra $30,000 sitting around to spend on this. We're in the midst of a major renovation. You may have heard about it.

Recently, the bros contacted me to ask if they could get access to the alumni database list. So I organized a TDX Telethon night where the actives would get on their cell phones and 'telemarket' to alumni asking for help with paying for the alarm system. So a couple of Thursdays ago I showed up at the house with lists of names and a phone script and the guys got busy. By that I mean they made an earnest and productive effort to call dozens of bros. The appeal was simple and from the heart. "Can you help us with a donation to pay for the alarm system?"

It was a difficult challenge for the young lads. The stock market has been raising hell, and that was one of the Black Thursday days where the Dow plunged. The alumni were amazed we were doing it. I think we'll be seeing a couple of donations from the night.

The most important result of this touching effort is a solid, tangible demonstration that these young men are dedicated and capable, and worthy of your support.

We need your support of funds and participation.
